Prior to Fall 2009, students pursuing a masters degree through the Health Behavior and Health Education department at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health enrolled in “Action-Oriented Community Diagnosis,” a course which required students to get involved in communities to determine — or diagnose — the public health issues of that particular group by working directly with the people they were studying. The Health Sciences Library hosts the digitized version of these papers produced from 1998-2008.

Beginning in Fall 2009, the requirement was changed to participation in a Capstone project which could produce a variety of deliverables, one of which might be a Community Diagnosis paper. Papers produced as part of a Capstone project can be accessed through the UNC-Chapel Hill Master’s Paper Collection.
