Abstract Tesim:: The current study exists to evaluate the educational experiences of North Carolina K-12 students based on their parents’ attitudes towards their schools during the coronavirus pandemic transition from in-person learning to distance learning. Parent participants (N = 835) volunteered to take a survey created by Parents for Educational Freedom in North Carolina to assess how parents responded to the major changes in their children’s education. Questions from this survey were operationalized to test the predictability of parent loyalty to their school and parent confidence in the education experience based on parent perception of education service quality. A significant relationship was found between parent perceptions and parent loyalty and confidence such that parents who perceived the school as delivering education instruction well were less likely to consider different schooling options and more confident that their child will progress to the next grade. Although the utilization of parent loyalty and confidence as educational success measures requires further exploration, the current study findings highlight important implications for school stakeholders, administrators, educators, as well as researchers.

Abstract Tesim:: Within the last two decades, coronaviruses have generated devastating effects on humans being. Especially in 2020, the appearance of new coronaviruses, COVID-19, makes researchers aware of the importance of forecasting and predicting the COIVD-19 spreading patterns. This research utilizes four different time series models - Naïve model, ARIMA model, Horizon-Specific Model without Difference, and Horizon-Specific Model with Difference – to predict the case and death rate with a horizon time of 1 day, 3 days, and 5 days ahead for 173 different countries. We identify the best model for each country based on the minimization of out-of-sample root mean squared error (RMSE). The results show that when forecasting the case rate, ARIMA models are the best fit for around 54% of countries with a horizon time of 1 day ahead, while the horizon-specific models without difference are the most appropriate for about 50% and 49% of countries with a horizon time of 3 days and 5 days ahead, respectively. When forecasting the death rate, the ARIMA models significantly outperform the others and are suitable for 59%, 39%, and 40% of countries with a horizon of 1 day, 3 days, and 5 days ahead, respectively.

Abstract Tesim:: The study analyses the content of Covid19 statements that are provided to users of the North Carolina Public Libraries Systems. The statements are pulled from official websites and social media pages. The research seeks to provide a view of any policy changes/alterations in services by using purposive sampling techniques to look at official statements, resources and updates given by Public Libraries within North Carolina. This includes coding the content of those statements (and other materials), and analyzing for significant themes, commonalities, and divergences. In so doing, the research hopes to provide a much-needed view of state of library resources in NC during the Covid19 pandemic – which may be useful for future research and policies.

Abstract Tesim:: This phenomenological study examines the state of archival reference and instruction services in academic libraries during the global COVID-19 pandemic. Specifically, this study explores if and how COVID-19 has impacted archival reference and instruction, as well as what strategies and/or tools academic archives have found to be effective in aiding their reference and instruction work. An anonymous, open-ended survey was sent to the Society of American Archivists’ Reference, Access and Outreach Section, as well as to the Archivists Think Tank group. Responses were thematically analyzed to identify key concepts and trends. This study demonstrates the profound impact COVID-19 has had upon academic archives and provides valuable insights as to best practices for conducting archival reference and instruction work during a pandemic.

Abstract Tesim:: This qualitative research study explores how arts professionals prioritize the preservation of their born-digital new media artwork. It seeks to find if and how artists are involved in preservation work. The study also looks at the Covid-19 pandemic and if the production of more digital materials affects institutional decisions for future digital preservation projects and processes. Purposive sampling was used to select archivists, registrars and conservators working in arts organizations. Data was collected through both a survey and interview process. Emergent themes helped to conceptualize the priorities of these organizations looking to preserve their born-digital new media artwork.

Abstract Tesim:: Covid-19, a worldwide infectious disease, shows strong infection ability among people, long virus incubation period, and general symptoms since spring 2020. To increase the accuracy and efficacy of potential patients and their close contacts’ tracing, many schools, companies, and national governments have adopted digital contact tracing tools. However, using digital contact tracing and related contact tracing programs with different contexts contribute to different effects. This paper demonstrates the most popular contact tracing technologies, tools, and programs to discuss potential reasons causing the different effects and provides a guideline for good contact tracing tools and programs as a summary.

Abstract Tesim:: This study is a statistical analysis examining the relationship between Google Trend and Daily Trend of the number of new COVID-19 cases in the United States using single term versus selecting 5 terms per day and taking time-lag into account. Google Trend was used to measure the interest of users in search terms over time during the pandemic of COVID-19. To make up for the lack of open datasets of search queries, tweets filtered by “COVID-19” related hashtags were used to generate top-5 terms per day according to term frequency on a 7-day moving average. Spearman correlation analysis was applied to examine the correlations between the two trends and examine the impact of time-lag. The results showed high correlation between the two trends by selecting 5 terms per day. Besides, taking time-lag into account improved the correlation between the difference of search interest and the number of new COVID-19 cases. The results indicate that it is important to account for the fact that covid-related language may change over time and time-lag should be considered as an important factor when conducting trend analysis. This study demonstrates the possibility of using Google Trend to predict future case trend of COVID-19 in areas with a large population of Web search users.

Abstract Tesim:: The goal of this study is to compare the attitudes of American citizens towards wearing masks at different times by implementing sentiment analysis on tweets posted in different time periods of the year 2020. The third-party open-source package Twint was used to collect Twitter data. After data preprocessing, the VADER algorithm was adopted and validated for sentiment analysis. Several analyses on word frequency, highly correlated words, and daily sentiment distribution were also applied. This study shows the differences between sentiment and opinion analysis and the possible research misunderstanding it may engender.

Abstract Tesim:: This study explores the role of art museums’ websites in museum operations after the COVID-19 outbreak in the United States. It seeks to provide a landscape of the art museum reaction through a qualitative content analysis during the pandemic by sampling nine art museums’ websites in three states. The sampled websites showed a consistent increase in their elements and activities. Over a six-month period, the art museums' webpages changed in terms of content and structure to serve different types of audiences and to meet the constantly changing needs of the users. This study summarizes common and different strategies adopted by each museum and identifies functional changes in the art museum websites. The findings indicate the impact of COVID-19 on the art museum community and provide directions for the future virtualization and web-based activities of cultural heritage institutions experiencing unavoidable external factors affecting onsite visitation.

Abstract Tesim:: In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, we wanted to answer the question of why being or feeling alone can contribute to depression or suicidal ideation. One possible answer, according to our study, is that loneliness often leads people to feel that they do not matter, thus distorting an essential component of human mental health. We therefore hypothesized that mattering would mediate the relationships between loneliness and depression (H1), as well as loneliness and suicidality (H2). Study 1, which tested H1, was a secondary analysis of longitudinal data on mental health outcomes during the COVID-19 pandemic. Study 2 tested H2 using cross-sectional samples of college students and nationwide adults. In Study 2, we additionally hoped to discern the impact of different types of perceived mattering (i.e., mattering to close others, like family and friends, versus mattering to one’s community) on depression and suicide. H1 was supported and H2 was partially supported. In Study 1, mattering mediated the relationship between loneliness and depression. In Study 2, context-free mattering mediated the relationship between loneliness and suicidality. We also found evidence of indirect effects of community mattering on suicidality in both samples and direct effects of close mattering on suicidality in nationwide adults. However, we found no evidence of a direct effect of community mattering on suicidality. Our results therefore provide support that mattering can have a direct impact on mental health outcomes and suggest that mattering could be targeted as a protective factor for depression and suicide in future interventions.
