Introduction: Literature Review: •Trust necessary for effective healthcare relationships because it influences a client’s acceptance of care and outcomes •Trust in healthcare providers reliant on their clinical experience and self-confidence •Novice OTs lack self-confidence due to their limited clinical experience •Novice OTs’ inexperience and lower self-confidence may hinder the development of trust in their clients, yet it hasn’t been addressed by existing research Research Questions: •What is the perspective of novice OTs as they try to develop trust in their clients despite their inexperience and lower self-confidence? •What behaviors do they purposefully use or avoid when trying to develop trust in their clients?

Background: •Having students involved as an active participant in the process of transitioning to employment after high school leads to favorable work outcomes •One major attribute of successful adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) is having a strong sense of control over their lives and decisions surrounding major events •Students who are supported in pursuing their own interests and goals experience greater job satisfaction and higher wages •Inclusion through meaningful employment benefits not only the individual with IDD, but also society as a whole through the contributions of citizens working in the community and contributing to the economy Research Question: What are the perspectives of high school students with IDD that are transitioning to employment?

Introduction: This study elicits the experiences of children in occupational therapy. By determining their perceptions of therapeutic processes, occupations, capacities, and outcomes, we can better understand how to therapeutically meet their needs. Review of literature identifies key characteristics of good therapy: relevance, acceptance, competence, and fun within sessions; in a clean, flexible, familiar, accessible location and with a therapist who communicates, supports, listens, and understands. Research indicates that children’s opinions often differ from those of their parents and that the do process experiences, have valid opinions, and can express them successfully.

Purpose: The professional body of occupational therapy identifies client-centeredness as a necessary quality of the therapeutic relationship, despite evidence that it is not necessarily realized in practice. Although humility can help negotiate the power dynamic inherent in the therapeutic relationship, humility has not been explored or defined in the literature on therapeutic use of self. Research Question: This study explores occupational therapists’ experience of the construct of humility in the therapeutic relationship.
