Abstract
  • North Carolina shares four transportation-related problems with the rest of the United States: • Environmental quality • Dependence on petroleum • Congestion and delay on highway and transit systems • The changing nature of cities More specifically, the relationship shared by these problems involves the emergence of the automobile as the dominant means of personal individual transportation in the United States and the characteristics of the automobile itself.
