- This is from my Tummy series. They are traditional photographs. The series is a parody of sleek product photography. It uses my body, specifically my large stomach as a stand-in for the seamless style backdrop usually used in photographing objects for advertisements. The grotesque contrast between the objects and my skin again are utilizing the Incongruity Theory. Whereas the backgrounds in advertisements are usually flawless, in my photographs the backgrounds have stretched pale skin, large pores, coarse hair, and moles. It is a pleasure to watch viewers react to these images as their response oscillates between winces, and amused chuckles.
