Abstract
  • This thesis looks at the depictions of ethnic Koreans in German news media. Using postcolonial theory, the media analysis centers around racism and the perpetuation of the Model Minority Myth as well as the portrayal of the identity and culture of the Korean diaspora in the media. This thesis shows how German news media has perpetuated racism, stereotypes, and the history erasure of ethnic Korean people in Germany. These prejudices have in turn affected the everyday lives of the Korean diaspora.
