- Abstract
- This paper identifies and provides bibliographic, binding, and provenance information on the Law Library of Congress’ holdings from the Genadii Vasil’evich Yudin Collection. The 80,000 volume collection was purchased in 1906 and is currently dispersed among several sections of the Library of Congress. The private library of G. V. Yudin, a Siberian liquor merchant and book collector, was the first major acquisition of Russian material by the Library and helped establish the Library as the largest collector of Slavic material outside of Russia. The paper includes a brief history of the collection, an analysis of the provenance indicators found, and the collection’s bindings. An inventory of the 700 items is provided as well as a catalog of 30 bookplates found in the collection from the bookseller V. I. Klochkov as appendices.
