Abstract
  • This study is an analysis of the Rare Book Collection's holdings and desiderata list for the Ticknor and Fields' collection and historical overview of the Ticknor and Fields publishing house. The purpose of this collection analysis is to assist the curator in collection development, to serve as a guide to researchers using the collection, and to assist librarians and catalogers who will continue to describe, catalog, and arrange the collection. This study is limited primarily to publications issued by Ticknor and Fields during the period of 1849 to 1853. The paper contains information on methodology and results and findings. It contains an overview of high spots of the collection and list of desirable first editions and selected later editions of items not currently in the Ticknor and Fields collection of the Rare Book Collection.
