- Abstract
- The purpose of this study is to do an exploratory examination of the evolution of ‘primers’ - fan-made online information resources. How have these fan-made information resources to popular media franchises Lord of the Rings and Star Wars changed from the early 90's to today? I will be purposively sampling a number of online published information resources from the 90’s up until 2019 in order to analyze the use of internet linguistics and terms, as well as coding and analyzing the resources individually to track changes in structure, text, and use of links and images. This analysis will hopefully give insights into the creation and use of information resources not just for fans but for any online users and help us to better understand online participatory culture and all its parts.
