Abstract
  • More and more people tend to gain information about the pandemic from social network and they may change their opinions about coronavirus accordingly. Therefore, the effect of social media should not be ignored in the spreading of COVID-19. This paper will investigate whether sentiments expressed on social media would affect the spreading of COVID-19. The correlation between sentiments on Twitter and the COVID-19 cases in a particular range of time will be explored using statistical methods, such as Pearson’s correlation, and Spearman's Rho with time-series analysis. The result shows that there is no strong correlation between sentiments on Twitter and spreading of COVID-19.
