Time-Delayed Treatment of Effluent For Intermittent Operating Facilities Using Low Pressure Pipe Treatment

- Abstract
- Many facilities—such as weekend camps, retreats, and churches—operate for only a few days out of the week. The cost for wastewater treatment is one of the larger cost to these intermittent operating facilities. Given these two factors and possible poor soil conditions at the site, the facility may not be able to acquire a permit for a proper treatment facility or afford to install a properly-sized treatment system. Given these conditions, a treatment system was designed for such a facility using an unusually large storage capacity and a smaller low pressure pipe absorption area than would be required . This paper describes the process followed to arrive at this system's design, as well as its installation, maintenance and operation.
