- Abstract
- The export of hazardous wastes as defined in the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act and unregistered agricultural pesticides raises many technical, environmental, health, legal, economic, and ethical questions. A comparison of certain aspects of the regulations governing the export of these chemicals, the types and amounts of chemicals exported, the nations of import, and the handling of these chemicals once in the importing nations indicates that unregistered pesticides are a greater threat to the public health and environment of the importing nation than hazardous wastes. Alternatives to the current export policies are suggested.
