Abstract
  • This article analyzes Rev. Charles M. Jones’s efforts to integrate his church in Chapel Hill and the subsequent responses from locals. I argue that those against integration often appealed to Presbyterian Church doctrine, while those who supported Jones’s integration project often appealed to broader religious principles.
