Abstract
  • This study discusses collaboration between librarians and information technologists and the potential advantages to the information consumer. It reviews changes in the information industry such as emergence of virtual and electronic environments, information anxiety and the convergence of technologies that are driving the two professions together. However, as the findings show, the two professional cultures may not be natural allies and collaboration may not be painless. The study describes the findings of research conducted with a project team composed of both types of information professionals and shows the benefits of collaboration to information technologists, to librarians, and most of all, to information consumers.
