- Abstract
- This study performs a content analysis on a series of written assignments submitted by students in an undergraduate English Composition class at a community college. Students attended four collaboratively-planned library instruction sessions during the semester. This study seeks to determine how these sessions may have affected the essay products. The study used a rubric to make a quantitative and quantitative assessment of the quality and development of student writing over the course of three writing assignments, examining the writing against the standards of the Association of College and Research Libraries' (ACRL) "Information Literacy Competency Standards for Higher Education." Five recommendations to strengthen the collaboration with the goal of improving student writing are included.
