Number of genes with significantly different expression following p53 loss (by RNAi) in sham-treated (black) or doxorubicin-treated (gray) cells. Sham-treated cells represented feeding controls, treated with fresh media and harvested at the same time points as the doxorubicin treated cells. Positive y-axis indicates number of genes up-regulated and negative yaxis indicates number of genes down-regulated by p53 knockdown. Luminal cell lines had the largest transcriptional response to p53 loss following induction, while HMEC cell lines had a stronger signature for p53 loss in the uninduced state.
